Method 1: Through the Instagram App

  1. Open the Instagram app and tap your profile picture in the bottom right corner.
  2. Access Settings by tapping the three horizontal lines in the top right corner, followed by the gear icon.
  3. Scroll down and tap Accounts Center.
  4. Select Accounts & profiles.
  5. Choose the Facebook account you want to disconnect and tap Remove.
  6. Confirm your choice by tapping Remove again.

Method 2: Through the Facebook App

  1. Open the Facebook app and tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the bottom right corner.
  2. Scroll down and tap Settings & Privacy, then Settings.
  3. Select Accounts Center.
  4. Go to Accounts & profiles.
  5. Choose the Instagram account you want to disconnect and tap Remove.
  6. Confirm your choice by tapping Remove again.

Bonus Tip: Remember, if your Facebook and Instagram passwords are identical, you’ll be prompted to create a new password for one of the accounts after unlinking.

What Happens After Disconnecting?

  • You’ll no longer be able to automatically share posts from one platform to the other.
  • You won’t see suggestions for Facebook friends on Instagram.
  • Logging in to one platform won’t automatically log you in to the other.
  • Comments and likes you’ve made on each platform using the other account’s credentials will remain.

Remember:

Disconnecting is permanent. If you want to reconnect later, you’ll need to go through the linking process again.
